Meet the YDT Leaders

Myriam

What is one quirk you have?

I like having a banana with my soup. I think that’s a Colombian thing but some people find it weird.

If you were marooned on a desert island, what is one thing you would bring and why?

A phone so I could call for help. (I feel that doesn’t count!) Or a book so I’m not bored … haha

Why did you decide to become a YDT leader?

I am passionate about working with young people, especially young women. I love seeing them discover how much God loves them, so that they are able to walk confidently and purposefully into life. Ellel Ministries has blessed me with the privilege to walk in God’s calling for my life. Working for Ellel was the easiest decision I have ever made and it has been full of so much more than what I could have hoped for.

What is one quirk you have?

I have a "slight" obsession with sloths!

If you were marooned on a desert island, what is one thing you would bring and why?

A satellite phone to get me off the island, but I feel like that’s cheating. So instead, a friend who will figure out how to get off the island, or we could laugh trying.

Why did you decide to become a YDT leader?

After doing YDT, I saw the impact that it had and the transformation in myself and I wanted to be a part of other people’s journeys in discovering who they are. I love the lightbulb moments that people have when they learn something new about themselves and about God. To be a part of that is exciting. It is a blessing and a privilege to be able to speak into other people’s worlds and to have that influence.

What is one quirk you have?

When I get really excited, I shake my hands wildly.

If you were marooned on a desert island, what is one thing you would bring and why?

Probably a knife, because it comes in handy when trying to build a shelter, or hunting or defending myself. Otherwise a magnifying glass to help me make campfires for warmth and to be seen.

Why did you decide to become a YDT leader?

I actually attended the first YDT course myself back in 2012. I was so impacted in the way I experienced God, learning how to truly express myself to Him and discern His response. My faith has sky-rocketed from then onwards. I signed up as a leader because I am passionate about helping other young adults to have the same authentic experiences. I believe it’s the very foundation for wherever God calls us to.
