This is the remarkable story of a very remarkable lady! Faced with crippling rheumatoid arthritis as a child and having dozens of operations, Beatriz Benestad did not let her disability obliterate her vision - both for practicing medicine and serving the Lord.
Then, having eventually qualified as a Doctor and Psychiatrist, she suffered a terrible accident while at work, resulting in her being a wheelchair user ever since. But even that did not blur her vision for serving the Lord as a missionary. Her journey of faith and amazing trust in God led to her becoming a missionary in Colombia, South America, in 2002, where she now leads the Colombian work of Ellel Ministries.
Beatriz's response to her calling, and the unmistakeable hallmark of God on every stage of her life, will challenge and encourage you as you share her journey into mission service, despite all the practical difficulties.
For some the miracle does not come overnight and for Beatriz, it is life itself and the pilgrimage she is on that is the real miracle. It is easy to forget that if darkness did not exist, I would not be able to rejoice in the light, she says.
BEATRIZ BENESTAD is a Norwegian national, a medical doctor and a psychiatrist who went to work in Colombia in 2002. In 2003 she did the Never Ever The Same (NETS) School at Ellel Pierrepont and has been Ellel's representative in Colombia since 2006, training and ministering to pastors and leaders.
